I grew up loving to draw and paint, and ended up attending the Columbus College of Art and Design in Ohio, where I received a great portfolio based scholarship. After foundation year I chose to pursue a degree in Illustration, with a minor in Advertising Design.
After graduation I returned to Knoxville, Tennessee and began searching for a job. I was fortunate in finding a position with a company called Automark as a multimedia designer. There I designed multimedia Director applications, learned quite a bit about quite a few things not taught in art school, and eventually followed the company when it moved the Tennessee location to Virginia Beach, Virginia.
In Virginia my focus shifted to Internet design and development, and I learned to apply my design background to the technologies that were becoming indespensible. HTML, Javascript, ASP, ColdFusion, and Flash were all very exciting and quite fun to learn and employ.
As our client base grew, their expectations and needs grew as well. I was blessed in being given the chance to travel with members of the sales and technical teams as the design representative from our company, and was able to work with terrific people from Nissan, Infiniti, Toyota, and Scion.
I'll always treasure the time I spent at Automark and with Reynolds & Reynolds. I miss the friends I made in Virginia over the years, and look forward to visiting them again soon!
These days I enjoy being a freelance design contractor in Knoxville, Tennessee for Scripps Networks as well as other small companies. Get in touch if you have any questions, need some design work done, or a fine art commission!
